TheJonesActisafederallawthatregulatesshipping,andtherefore,jobinjuriesinvolving"vessels"whicharecoveredundertheJonesAct."Vessels"includesoffshoredrillingrigsincludingjack-updrillingrigs,semi-submersibledrillingrigsanddrillships.Boats,ships,barges,tugs,crewboats,supplyboats,cruiseships,containership,containership,fishingshipsandboatsandevenhelicoptershavebeenheldtobe"vessels"undertheJonesAct.TheJonesActgotit'snamefromU.S.SenatorWesleyJoneswhosponsoredthebill.TheJonesActhasbeenamendedmanytimesandwasrecentlyre-codified.
