The Somoni is the currency of Tajikistan. The ISO 4217 currency code is TJS. The somoni is divided into 100 diram. On October 30, 2000, the somoni replaced the Tajikistani ruble, at the rate of 1 somoni = 1,000 rubles. The currency is named after the father of the Tajik nation, Ismail Samani
